Do i need twitch app to download from curseforge

mods downloaded from twitchapp search button works but cannot downlod them from the site. does it matter if i have installed mincraft in another. You will still need a mod launcher to use the downloaded file. This kinda defeats the point of downloading the file since all the good modded. So all this recent news got me to thinking maybe I'm doing my add ons wrong. Currently I have all my add ons installed through Twitch.
